At Bharat, we believe that technology has the potential to unlock large emerging sectors such as agriculture, health, energy as well as enterprises and create unprecedented business opportunities for innovators with great ideas. We realize the need for patience, sustained financial support, policy support and access to networks in building companies in these sectors. Our mission is to use our people, capital, vast network and deep domain expertise to help build companies that are transforming these sectors through their innovations.
Technology has the ability to impact India’s hardest challenges: financial inclusion, skilling, livelihood, health, and education amongst others. But using technology to solve for these problems is hard. Entrepreneurs looking at sustainable ventures in these areas face a multitude of hardships.

CIIE has been providingto early-stage startups since 2008. Common issues plaguing these enterprises have been the proverbial valley-of-death and the missing risk capital. To bridge this gap, CIIE has been channeling catalytic capital from government agencies, corporate CSR bodies, and foundations into early-stage startups through equity, debt, and grant funding.
Equity: CIIE provides equity-linked financing of up to INR 1 Crore to technology startups with innovative products and services across sectors such as ICT, fintech, agriculture, energy, health etc., most often as their first institutional investor.
Soft Capital: Through the INVENT (Innovative Ventures and Technologies for Development) program, CIIE also supports for-profit-social entrepreneurs in the eight low-income states of India.
Grants: CIIE provides prototyping and market validation grants along with soft capital to startups in order to mitigate the risk associated with the initial stages and make them investment ready.
